002 DELROY WILSON - better must come

Στο φοβερο dj set των Thievery corporation
"Outernational Sound"
οι Thievery Corporation

Delroy Wilson (5 October 1948 - 6 March 1995), aka Roy Wilson was a Jamaican ska, rocksteady and reggae singer.
Career
In the 1960s he was part of the duo Higgs and Wilson together with Joe Higgs.
He released his first solo single "Emy Lou" in 1961 for record producer, Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, at the age of thirteen. His transition to rocksteady in the late 1960s produced many hits including "Conquer Me" and "Riding For A Fall". His classic song "Dancing Mood" remains one of the most popular Jamaican songs from that time.[citation needed] After leaving Studio One he continued to record into the 1990s.

In 1972, Michael Manley's People's National Party chose Wilson's "Better Must Come" as their election campaign song. Also a Bob Andy produced song, "The Last Thing On My Mind" rose to number one in Jamaica. Delroy was produced by Bunny Lee through the 1970s.
Delroy had influenced many U.K. punk bands in the early 70's including the Clash and they mention him on in "(White Man) in Hammersmith Palais".
Delroy Wilson died on 6 March 1995 at Kingston's UWI hospital from complications following a liver ailment.

I've been trying a long, long time
Still I can't make it
Everything I try to do seems to go wrong
It seems I have done something wrong
But they're trying to keep me down

Who God bless, no one curse,
Thank God I'm past the worst

Better must come one day
Better must come, they can't conquer me
Better must come [*fine]

I've been trying a long, long time
But I can't make it
Noone to give me a helping hand
The only sign keeps me down
Who God...

Oh my people get a seed (seat ?)
They're trying to take advantage of me
Better must come, better must come
Better must come one day
Better must come [da capo al *fine]
